Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our Clinical Trials Pharmacy Team.

We are seeking an individual with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for excellence. In this challenging but rewarding role, you will collaborate closely with the clinical trials pharmacist and other members of the research team within the trust to establish and deliver clinical trial protocols for drugs in the research phase. The post holder will be responsible for managing the pharmacy aspects of IMP (Investigational Medicinal Product) studies, including ensuring safe storage, accurate dispensing, and accountability, as well as overseeing stocks of trial drugs. You will need to adhere to the standards set by international guidance of ICH GCP (Good Clinical Practice), UK laws and regulations pertaining to clinical trials of medicines, and Trust and departmental SOPs.

Main duties of the job

· Assist the Clinical Trials Pharmacists in the development and updating of Pharmacy SOPs for the clinical trials service and trial specific SOPs for new studies.

· Support with revision of existing study protocols following protocol amendments and document updates and set-up documents for new study protocols.

· Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support the efficient and accurate handling of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) and contribute to the smooth operation of clinical trial activities

· Ensure records for all current clinical trials involving IMPs are accurate and legible and comply with local SOPs and ICH/GCP guidelines.

· Work with the Clinical Trials Pharmacists to prepare for any trial monitoring visits and where necessary deputise as appropriate.

· Support the Clinical Trials Pharmacists in invoicing for trials by completing workload stats and assist in the development of activity and quality data relating to clinical trials

· Assist in providing training and support for any rotational technicians, students or pre-registration pharmacists working in the Clinical Trials department, under direction of Clinical Trials Pharmacists.
