North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) is seeking a Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician to join our innovative pharmacy team.

We are seeking a forward thinking and highly motivated Pharmacy Technician to deliver a high quality, safe and effective pharmacy service.

The roles will support the team, department, and organisation to achieve the Trust’s mission of “best care by the best people”.  The post holder will join a team of clinical pharmacists, medicines management technicians and pharmacy assistants in delivering high quality, safe and effective care to patients and service users.

Main duties of the job

NELFT provide a wide range of community and mental health services to a large population across Kent, Essex and North East London.

Though the clinical pharmacy team has an outsourced provision for medicines dispensing and supply, you should preferably have an ACPT qualification.

This role is primarily to provide patient-facing clinical services across our inpatient wards and community teams.

We are looking for a high-performing, self-motivated, forward thinking and clinically orientated medicines management pharmacy technician to join our progressive team. The post holder will be required to possess good communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in busy environments both independently and within a team. Computer skills are essential. Ideally, the post holder should have previous NHS experience.

You be undertaking clinical, technical and supply duties in support of the ward based clinical pharmacy service to all inpatient units, home treatment teams, and off site community teams across NELFT as well as undertaking medicines reconciliation processes. Ensuring that all wards have adequate supplies of all medication and coordinating and implementing to all units the clinical technical processes of the medicine’s management pathway.

You will be participating in the education and training of pharmacy colleagues as an education and practice supervisor as well as training ward-based staff on medicines related policies.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC pharmaceutical Sciences/ NVQ Level 3 or GPhC accredited or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post qualification experience of ward-based medicines optimisation in a multidisciplinary setting
  • To have experience in consultation & counselling of a broad range of patients and medicines

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of CQC domains and compliance, in particular, aspects relating to patient engagement, experience and safety
  • Able to explain medical conditions, rationale for prescribed medicines, side effects, possible interactions, side effects and monitoring requirements
