Job overview

We have a new exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and customer focused individual to join our friendly and busy Recruitment and On Boarding team within the Workforce Division. 

Supported by the Recruitment Team Leader, you will be responsible for undertaking safe and fair recruitment, maintaining a customer focused approach while responding to a high volume of queries, ensuring that all candidates have a positive recruitment and onboarding experience.

You will show good attention to detail, be accurate and passionate about providing excellent  customer service to all those who come into contact with our service.  You will be organised, self-motivated and keen to work in a fast-pace environment. The ideal candidate will have an excellent attention to detail,  good IT skills and a keen interest in recruitment and a career in Human Resources.

In return, we will support your professional development and provide on-going support and training. You will be based in Wallington, with travel to our Sutton and Chelsea sites when required.

Apprenticeships at The Royal Marsden follow a partnership model between you and the organisation. This means you will be working, studying, and learning a new role all at once. It is a rewarding and demanding opportunity that requires dedication, flexibility, and strong personal motivation. You will be working towards a CIPD qualification.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the provision of a high quality comprehensive recruitment service, ensuring the timely appointment to vacancies across all (non-medical) staff groups which is consistent with Trust policy, legislative requirements and best practice 
  • Ensure delivery of recruitment team’s key performance Indicators (KPI’s) relating to recruitment time lines of service level agreement. 
  • To deliver exceptional customer service to all services within the Trust. The post holder will usually be the initial point of contact with members of the general public interested in working for the organisation
  • Provide support and guidance to all managers on recruitment and onboarding related activities, transactional issues and concerns

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To manage the recruitment and onboarding process for all posts within designated area and action within timeline of key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for ensuring all pre-employment checks for successful candidates are undertaken and meet the standard for the Trust in line with NHS Employers Checks Standards, including; verification of identity, right to work in the UK, professional registration and qualifications, references, criminal records check and occupational health, in line with audit requirements. Highlighting any discrepancies to the recruitment team leader
  • Administer the vacancy control process, uploading vacancies onto the recruitment system, checking advertisements, job descriptions and person specifications, sending offer letters, undertaking pre and post-employment checks, issuing contracts of employment and creating employee files.
  • To ensure all new joiners information is entered onto electronic staff record (ESR) within set payroll deadlines each month. Ensuring timely notifications to Payroll of all recruitment contractual changes to prevent under/over payments to staff.
  • Ensure the Recruitment system is updated and maintained on a daily basis.

Meets all government criteria for apprenticeship funding, including appropriate visa status, required period of UK residency, and no prior learning or experience at a level that would prevent funding approval.

  • Educated to GSCE level or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment, demonstrating a commitment to providing customer service to a high standard
  • Previous administration experience in a busy office environment
  • Experience of using IT applications such as Microsoft
  • Some practical knowledge of HR systems and HR processes
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver high standard of customer care service skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using recruitment systems and electronic payroll system eg ESR, NHS Jobs, Trac or similar

  • Able to work independently and under pressure, planning work appropriately to meet deadlines
  • Good IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
