Job overview

The post holder will provide support as required to the clinical pharmacy services, dispensary, production and medicine information services and medicines management programme and assist in planning and delivery of education and training within the pharmacy department and HIV, Sexual & Reproductive Health and Infectious Diseases teams

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for providing a highly specialist clinical and professional pharmaceutical service to HIV, Sexual & Reproductive Health and Infectious diseases teams based North Middlesex University Hospital.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with the multidisciplinary team, consultants and service managers of these specialty areas.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that appropriate mechanisms are in place to promote high quality drug use, effective risk management, patient safety and clinical governance initiatives and adherence to trust policies and guidelines.

The post holder will advise on drug budget management in these areas and undertake clinical audit to continually improve the quality of the service provided.

The post holder is responsible for developing policies and guidelines as required to ensure safe clinically effective and cost-efficient use of medicines in these areas, and across the interface between primary and secondary care.

Education and professional qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MRPharmS or equivalent
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice Post graduate diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent, or currently working towards it
  • Post graduate diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent, or currently working towards it
  • Advanced qualification in specialist area or equivalent Good Clinical Practice
Desirable criteria
  • Independent non medical prescribing qualification, or currently working towards it
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience

  • Relevant Hospital Pharmacy experience, including recent clinical/ward pharmacy experience

  • Identify training needs of staff in order to undertake the roles required
