We are looking for an experienced dietitian to work as part of our renal dietetic team within St George’s NHS Foundation Trust who is self-motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic with excellent team-working, communication and organisational skills. Our renal team is well respected and covers a wide range of patients including nephrology, pre-dialysis, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplant patients in our specialist renal ward, clinics and dialysis units. St George’s is a regional renal transplant centre

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the specialist renal dietetic team at St Georges Hospital. To be responsible for providing a highly specialist dietetic service to renal patients; following evidence based practice, being an
active multidisciplinary team member, educator, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, participating in audit and research related to renal services in order to improve health outcomes and develop the role
and service.

St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the regional specialist care provider for south west London, Surrey and beyond. We are a regional renal transplant centre. With national and regional referrals added to our local 3.5m catchment, we serve a population of around 5m.  Acute and tertiary health services are delivered from over 1,000 beds across two sites, by around 8,000 staff.

The Trust has very good public transport links by tube, train, bus and is on the CS7 cycle superhighway. Tooting is a great place to live and work. The wider dietetic department consists of over 70 dietitians, who provide clinical inpatient, outpatient and community services to a variety of specialties including cardiology, critical care, diabetes, gastro, haematology, HIV, infectious diseases, major trauma, neurology/neuro surgery, oncology, paediatrics, renal and surgical diseases.

 The department is committed to training dietetic students and actively participates in the training programs of clinical and non-clinical staff. Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • BSc / Post graduate diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • HCPC current registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate training in speciality clinical area e.g. Renal Nutrition Specialist Group Renal clinical update course
  • Membership of BDA and BDA Renal Nutrition Specialist Group

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate experience of working in acute and/or community dietetic services at a specialist level
  • Experience of undertaking clinical audit/research in relevant clinical area
  • Experience in the clinical supervision of students/junior staff
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Experience in teaching and education to patient groups and healthcare professionals in relevant clinical area
Desirable criteria
  • Significant clinical experience of working in one of more renal dietetic areas

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Motivation and behavioural change skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Working at Masters level or equivalent in speciality area
  • Knowledge of dietetics within the NHS
