LIMS Project Manager

Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to lead the implementation and upgrade of our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) within the Pathology Directorate.

Working closely with pathology services, digital teams, clinical leaders, suppliers and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for delivering this complex programme of work within agreed timescales, budget and quality standards. You will ensure robust governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle while supporting compliance with relevant standards including ISO 15189. 

Main duties of the job

·       Lead the planning, implementation and delivery of the Pathology LIMS project.

·       Coordinate workstreams and manage project dependencies, risks and issues.

·       Develop and maintain project plans, reporting systems and governance documentation.

·       Work closely with pathology teams, digital colleagues, suppliers and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

·       Monitor milestones, benefits realisation and project performance, escalating issues where appropriate.

·       Lead project meetings and provide comprehensive reports to programme boards, directorate meetings and senior stakeholders.

·       Support data migration, system integration and information governance requirements.

·       Develop and implement project-related standard operating procedures.

·       Provide project management guidance, training and support to colleagues involved in the programme.

·       Ensure programmes and documentation support compliance with ISO 15189 and MHRA requirements.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of work experience
  • Project or Programme Management Qualification such as PRINCE2 (Practitioner) or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of NHS diagnostics, including systems and processes.
  • Experience of project management including planning, implementation and report writing
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of the requirements of ISO15189 and MHRA

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to understand, interpret and analyse highly complex issues, thinking analytically and strategically.

  • Project management skills (MSP)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working effectively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to achieve tangible outcomes
  • Relevant experience working in an NHS or complex multisite organisation

  • Several years’ experience in laboratory or healthcare setting
