DAWN/Rheumatology Administrator

Band 3

Job overview

DAWN/Rheumatology Administrator

Band 3

37.5 hours

Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Rheumatology team as a Band 3 DAWN Rheumatology Administrator.

The post holder will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Rheumatology service, with particular responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the DAWN clinical monitoring system. DAWN is used to support the ongoing monitoring of patients receiving disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologic therapies and other treatments that require regular monitoring.

Working closely with Rheumatology Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Pharmacists and administrative colleagues, the post holder will play an important role in supporting safe and effective patient pathways. This will include maintaining accurate patient information, monitoring outstanding actions, ensuring required investigations and results are available, contacting patients regarding monitoring requirements and escalating matters requiring clinical review to the appropriate member of the clinical team.

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual with excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload. The successful candidate will be able to work independently within agreed procedures while contributing positively to the wider Rheumatology multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide day-to-day administrative support for the Rheumatology DAWN monitoring service, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and processed within agreed timescales.

Key responsibilities include processing referrals, maintaining patient and monitoring information, reviewing DAWN worklists and outstanding actions, and identifying patients who are overdue blood tests, investigations or other required monitoring.

The post holder will ensure relevant results are available for clinical review and liaise with Pathology, GP practices, community services and other healthcare providers where information is outstanding. Abnormal results, overdue monitoring, treatment queries or other matters requiring clinical judgement will be promptly escalated to the appropriate Rheumatology clinician.

The role includes contacting patients regarding monitoring requirements, responding to enquiries, maintaining accurate records and supporting data validation, reporting, audit and service improvement.

The post holder will work closely with the Rheumatology multidisciplinary team and provide wider administrative support as required. They will not interpret clinical results, provide clinical advice or make independent clinical decisions.
