Job overview
To provide nursing care to patients who admitted to the ward for elective orthopaedic surgery.
To deliver harm free care and ensure inpatients have the correct pre and post operative care.
To give support and ensure all patients are signposted to the relevant services post operatively.
To support the senior nursing team by giving assurance around mandatory training, information governance and attendance.
To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team ensuring patient safety is maintained at all times.

Main duties of the job
- Work alongside staff nurse and other members of the MDT
- Assist in clinical skills needed within the orthopaedic unit
- Partake in admissions on the unit
- Care and support patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
- Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
- Care Certificate
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
- Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners
- Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good communication (written and verbal skills)
- Basic IT skills
- Good organisational skills
