Job overview

A rare opportunity to lead, influence and shape the future of specialist CAMHS inpatient and acute care across Greater Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of the most innovative and developing areas of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) across Greater Manchester.

As our CAMHS Inpatient Service Manager, you will provide visible, compassionate leadership for our specialist inpatient service while playing a key strategic role in the continued development of the CAMHS acute care pathway. This is a highly influential post, offering the opportunity to shape services for children and young people experiencing complex mental health needs.

Working as part of Pennine Care’s senior CAMHS leadership team and alongside the Bee Together Greater Manchester Children and Young People’s Mental Health Provider Collaborative, you will help drive service transformation, improve equity of access, reduce avoidable admissions and support young people to receive high-quality care closer to home wherever possible.

Main duties of the job

You will provide operational, clinical and strategic leadership across CAMHS inpatient and acute pathway services, leading a large multidisciplinary team and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing the CAMHS inpatient service and the wider acute care pathway across Greater Manchester.

  • Driving service improvement, innovation and transformation in line with local and national priorities.

  • Providing inclusive and supportive leadership to nursing, therapeutic, medical and administrative teams.

  • Ensuring high standards of quality, clinical governance, safeguarding, patient experience and regulatory compliance.

  • Leading workforce planning, staff development, performance, budgets and effective use of resources.

  • Overseeing patient flow, bed management and system-wide capacity planning.

  • Building strong partnerships with young people and families, commissioners, local authorities, community teams and other inpatient providers.

  • Representing Pennine Care as lead provider and contributing to strategic decisions across the Greater Manchester system.

The breadth of this post makes it an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational leader who wants to retain a strong connection to clinical quality while developing their strategic and system leadership experience.

Working for our organisation

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering high-quality mental health and learning disability services and improving the lives of the communities we serve.

Our CAMHS inpatient and acute care services are entering an important period of development. There is a strong focus on collaboration, innovation and improving outcomes for young people and their families. Leaders are encouraged to think creatively, challenge established ways of working and contribute meaningfully to service design and system-wide change.

You will join a committed, experienced and supportive leadership team that values compassionate leadership, staff wellbeing, professional development and continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to build influential regional relationships and make a lasting contribution to specialist mental health services across Greater Manchester.
