Welcome to The Fairfield Family at Fairfield General Hospital, AKA Bury Care Organisation! We are part of the larger Northern Care Alliance of hospitals in the region which also includes Salford Royal Hospital, Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.

We are looking for a great colleague to join our team. This post is within the directorate of Care of the Elderly and General Medicine and we are looking for a doctor who can provide leadership and expertise in this area. Our Care of the Elderly medics are responsible for providing specialist care to our older patients in inpatient settings, virtual community beds in patients homes and on an in-reach basis. The Trust is also part of the Acute Frailty Network and is currently on an improvement journey to increase and improve the care and outcomes we offer our patients within Bury.

There is a significant general medical component to the job, which candidates will be required to contribute to. They are involved in many aspects of elderly care including Dementia care, Acute frailty, Movement disorders and our Stroke team on our Fairfield site have recently been nationally recognised as the highest rated Stroke unit in the country for the care it provides.

This is a ‘family’ that is constantly striving for success for our patients and for our team. Our dedicated and passionate teams across our sites are seeking inspirational clinical leaders who are passionate about transforming geriatric services to deliver comprehensive, high quality care to our population across North East Manchester.

Our commitment to you as a valued consultant is:

  • Mentorship and clinical supervision from an experienced and quality focused senior team.
  • A tailored individual learning contract agreed with you to meet your career aspirations.
  • Opportunities to develop your area of sub-specialist interest and enhance your research/teaching experience.
  • Valuing your individuality to ensure you have a working life that is right for you and your development.
  • Opportunities to broaden and enhance your knowledge and experience by rotating between your particular areas of interest across our different sites.

To be eligible for consideration you must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatrics & General internal medicine or a Specialist Registrar within six months of your CCT date or have equivalent experience to be entered on the GMC Specialist Registrar within six months of the interview date.

This is an exciting time of departmental expansion and we’d love to meet like-minded individuals with a drive for success and thirst for knowledge. The post is being offered at 10PAs with 1.5PA as GIM on call with opportunities for additional lung cancer leadership and sessional commitments.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit Fairfield General Hospital and the NCA to meet members of the management team and other senior members of staff. Appointments can be made for a visit at any point prior to the date of interview.
