Clinical Research Nurse

Band 6

Our new Northern Care Alliance NHS Group unites five local hospitals to deliver high quality care across the North East of Greater Manchester.

The Alliance provides the benefits of scale but delivers this locally through multiple hospital sites which make up four new Care Organisations – Bury/Rochdale, North Manchester, Oldham and Salford. Using our mantra of ‘Saving lives, Improving lives’, the aim is for our Care Organisations to work closely with the communities they serve to deliver safe, high quality and reliable care, which are trusted, connected and pioneering.

Our Care Organisations are designed to operate within our group arrangement of hospitals, community and healthcare services which bring together over 17,000 staff and the services of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Our size and geographical reach means we are creating an environment each individual will be inspired and empowered by to be the best they can be.  This is a really exciting time to join our new team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research & Development Team at Northern Care Alliance NHS Group and play a pivotal role in the delivery of new, potentially life changing, treatments to our patients. Our research activity has expanded considerably over recent years and we were awarded NHS research site of the Year in 2016 by Pharma times, the same year we were finalists in the Nursing Times Research Nursing Awards . We facilitate both commercial and non commercial research studies over a wide range of specialties, including , diabetes, cardiology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine and surgery.

With the support of a research team, you will assist in initiating and delivering new and existing studies, recruiting and supporting patients and their families whilst collecting and documenting data according to research governance standards and regulations.

You will be a registered nurse with substantial general clinical experience in the NHS acute setting and preferably some background in clinical research, although further training will be provided. If you are an effective communicator who can work well both independently and within a multidisciplinary team, and can demonstrate excellent attention to detail, we would love to hear from you.

This post is available either as a secondment or as a fixed term contract and is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in Clinical Research.

Your base will be based at Fairfield General Hospital but you may be required to travel across the different sites in Pennine Acute NHS Trust, all new starters to Corporate posts within the Northern Care Alliance will be employed by Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and be on a Salford Contract.

If you are applying for this post as a Secondment please ensure you have approval from your current line manager.

In line with the Trust’s Single Equality Scheme we welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnic origin, disability, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, religion, marital status, social back ground or trade union membership. However, as members of ethnicity minority  groups and individuals with disabilities are currently under-represented at this level of post, we would encourage applications from members of these groups.  Appointment will be based on merit alone.
