Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join inpatient Therapy Hub team, based at the Atherleigh Park Hospital, Leigh. This is a permanent, full-time post, mainly covering Monday to Friday. However, this may include some weekend and evening work as the department covers a 7-day service between the hours of 08.00 and 20.00. We will consider flexible/part time working hours. The applicant should be able to demonstrate relevant experience and desirably have relevant mental health experience.

Main duties of the job

The job holder will be responsible for managing a daily caseload of clients with acute and complex mental health and physical healthcare needs and completing a range of assessments and treatment plans to contribute to the discharge planning process.

Under the guidance of the Unit’s Specialist Physiotherapist, they will also contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the physiotherapy services within the in-patient unit and contribute to falls projects and training for staff within the service area. The successful candidate will provide learning support to Physiotherapy and AHP students as part of their role.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Physiotherapy / HCPC Registered
Desirable criteria
  • Member of CSP
  • Clinical Educator Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with a range of conditions e.g. neurological, MSK
  • Experience of working with older people
  • Evidence of CPD and lifelong learning
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising support staff / students
  • Experience of working with people with mental health conditions

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Broad knowledge of current best practice for Physiotherapy in mental health
  • Knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques
  • Knowledge of clinical risk assessment and risk management guidelines
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of assessment tools used in mental health services
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation in mental health

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Be IT literate
  • Be able to manage own caseload, prioritise and delegate effectively
  • Clear written, verbal and non verbal communication skills, including the ability to process complex and sensitive information
  • Be able to complete a subjective and objective assessment and formulate an appropriate problem list and treatment plan individual to the service user
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL
  • Supervisory Skills
  • Experience of facilitating exercise groups / gym work
