An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join the expanding Diabetes team at Wythenshawe Hospital, a key part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). We are seeking applications from highly motivated candidates with a demonstrated interest and experience in Diabetes care. This role is designed for General Practitioners who have a special interest in Diabetes and will collaborate with a team of dedicated Diabetes Specialist Physicians to provide comprehensive care to patients within a specialised Diabetes Centre.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting weekly outpatient clinics. They must exhibit competencies that align with our detailed personal specification, possessing the necessary specialty knowledge and skill set for this role. We are looking for individuals who are not only passionate about Diabetes care but also committed to enhancing patient experiences and outcomes. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and integrated care, which are fundamental to our service delivery approach.

Person specification
Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Membership of the Royal College of General Practioner's
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice
Desirable criteria
- Membership in relevant specialist bodies (e.g., MRCP)
- Advanced training in communication skills
Experience
Essential criteria
- A minimum of 36 months of post-F2 experience as a practicing doctor within the UK
- Demonstrable enthusiasm and interest in the field of Diabetes
Desirable criteria
- At least 3 months of experience in Diabetes at the Senior House Officer (SHO) or trust grade level, or as part of GP Vocational Training Scheme (VTS)
- Experience in providing educational sessions to students and peers
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively within a multicultural community
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage clinical workloads efficiently
- Proven ability to motivate and develop both medical and non-medical staff
Desirable criteria
- Experience in team leadership and an understanding of various leadership styles
- Completion of a recognized Management Course
