There is an opportunity to work in providing a service in General Anaesthesia and Acute and Chronic Pain Medicine . The Division of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Preoperative Medicine consists of over 200 consultants and the scale of the service across a number of hospital sites provides significant subspecialisation and the opportunity to develop within a particular area of interest.
Main duties of the job
There is an exciting opportunity for a high-calibre consultant level candidate to join the Wythenshawe pain department within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
The role presents the suitable applicant with an opportunity to join a bright and dynamic Department where you will be mentored and supported to flourish in your career.
Desirable experiences would include experience in different hospitals / departments where opportunities to develop leadership and management experience have been fully utilized. Evidence of team working is essential.

Teaching and Audit
Essential criteria
- Teaching medical students
- Experience of Audit
- Teaching junior medical staff
Desirable criteria
- Participation in national audit
- GMC recognition as an educational supervisor
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- MBChB or equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent e.g. FRCA
- Completion of higher training in Anaesthesia should be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
- Adult Life Support and Advanced Paediatric Life Support Certification or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Registration as trainer with General Medical Council
- FFPMRCA

- Publication in a peer reviewed journal, a demonstrable commitment to developing research in the Trust or a record of improving patient safety within previous organisations
