Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative dietitian with a passion for community dietetics to join us in our Citywide Nutrition Support and Home Enteral Feeding service. 

Our services support adults who require dietetic support due to malnutrition across a range of clinical backgrounds. We also provide a service for individuals who require support with Home Enteral Feeding as well as community Coeliac Disease clinics.

 As a dietitian you will be a valued part of our multi-disciplinary teams providing holistic care for patients.  You will be given opportunities to lead in the development of our service and be supported within your roles to continue with professional development.  Successful applicants will gain experience in a number of clinical areas -  offering  a great opportunity for clinical experience and progression within the profession.

The service works across the city with bases in North and South Manchester.

Main duties of the job

To assess and treat an independent caseload of patients requiring nutritional support due to risk of malnutrition or requiring Home Enteral Feeding.  The post will also include supporting patients as part of our community Coeliac Disease pathway. The successful applicant will be working  in a variety of settings including patient's homes, care homes and clinics across the city of Manchester footprint.

To act as an autonomous practitioner and source of expertise in the areas outlined above, supporting  junior staff and other health care professionals where required.

To undertake training including audit and evaluation as part of the team.

To be actively involved in the training and supervision of student dietitians.

To be involved with Service Quality Improvement projects.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
  • Clinical supervisory skills
  • Registered with Health Profession Council
Desirable criteria
  • Member of PENG/BAPEN
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association.
  • Member of special interest group.
  • Accredited BDA course in specialist area.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least 2 years post registration experience.
  • Relevant clinical experience.
  • Good clinical knowledge of nutrition support and enteral feeding.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a community setting
  • Previous experience of working in the area of home enteral feeding.
  • Knowledge of clinical supervision.
  • Basic clinical supervisory skills training.
  • Experience of pre-registration dietetic student training
