Band 5

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 25,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of ten hospitals across seven separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider.

MFT Employee Health and Wellbeing (EHW) service provides specialist advice and support regarding employee health issues to MFT employees and managers as well as to a variety of external clients.  The EHW Service continues to provide an efficient, highly professional and cost-effective service whilst focusing activity on meeting the common challenges faced by a large Acute NHS Trust; we now look after over 20,000 employees making us the biggest Trust in the UK.

The EHW Service is a multidisciplinary team comprising of Senior Managers, Occupational Physicians, Fitness for Work Advisers, Clinic Nurses, Psychological Support Therapists and EHW Physiotherapists. Working with our Service Support team, the main priority is to create a dynamic approach to maximise employee health, wellbeing and productivity.

In response to the current pandemic, we are extending our services to provide a Covid-19 (C-19) Response Team, providing test results to employees and their household members and advice to both employees and managers as a seven-day service for the next 12 months.

To support this new service element, we are currently recruiting a Response Team Manager and Advisors to work alongside our expert colleagues in providing an EHW service to our highly skilled organisation. The candidates will be highly motivated and competent to provide C-19 results and advice to the organisation and be able to engage will all relevant stakeholders. These roles are suitable for Registered Nurses and do not require a specialisation in Occupational Health.

Taking a business partnership approach, you will work alongside EHW colleagues to provide proactive EHW services to the Trust.  We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated individuals, who are IT literate and able to learn systems and processes.

As a key member of the team this role provides a unique and exciting opportunity to assist in the design and implementation of a highly professional and customer focussed EHW service

This opening may be a consideration for those who are interested in Occupational Medicine and would like an opportunity to find out more.

In return we will support your development and provide you with an opportunity to maximise your skills and experience in a developing and supportive environment.  Within the C-19 Response Team, and through regular interaction with the Team Manager and Head of Operational Services, there are regular reviews of practice and opportunity to develop the service provision.   Through a managed approach we can provide a less pressurised environment and aim to ensure an effective work life balance for all members of the department, whilst continuing to achieve business requirements.
