Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a Speciality Doctor in Paediatric & Perinatal Pathology to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Oxford Road Campus. Full and part-time applicants will be considered. Pay will be on the appropriate point of the Speciality Doctor scale based on prior experience.
Main duties of the job
You will join a team of six full and part time Consultant Paediatric and Perinatal Pathologists and two Speciality Trainees. The main responsibilities of this post would be:-
1) Participation in the perinatal and hospital-consented autopsy service.
2) Participation in the coroner’s autopsy service.
3) Reporting placentas.
4) Reporting paediatric surgical pathology.
5) Involvement in relevant clinicopathological meetings and MDTs.
6) Contribution to the training and supervision of junior medical staff and laboratory staff.
As this is a Speciality Doctor post, all aspects will be subject to competency assessment and sign-off.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- MB ChB or equivalent
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
- Completed at least three years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent) in a specialty training programme in cellular pathology or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in cellular pathology or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
- Eligible to work in the UK

- Applicant’s knowledge is up to date and fit to practise safely
Language Skills
Essential criteria
- Must have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English or have scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent equal to those required for recruitment to MMC specialty training programmes or other equivalent evidence
Teaching and Audit
Essential criteria
- Experience of Audit in cellular pathology
Desirable criteria
- Teaching of medical students
- Teaching of junior medical staff
- Experience of supervision of ST1 level trainees including workplace-based assessment and MSF
- Trained Clinical Supervisor
