Job overview
Part time (15 hours a week) temporary 12 months contract occupational therapist. To work as part of the COPD team in the hospital and also out in the community at sports centers for pulmonary rehabilitation and also in patients homes.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will provide an efficient and high quality therapy service for patients
- As an autonomous practitioner they will assess, diagnose and treat patients on their own case load of community patients in individual and group settings.
- Participate in pulmonary rehabilitation sessions, providing education sessions.
- Participate in Continuing Professional Development, clinical audit and in service training.
- To advise the multidisciplinary team about occupational therapy treatment.
- Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their professional and clinical work, working to agreed national and professional standard

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registration with Health Professions Council
- Honours degree in Occupational therapy/Occupation al Therapy Diploma
- Evidence of continuing professional development including relevant attendance at postgraduate courses and conferences within the clinical speciality
Desirable criteria
- Membership of relevant special interest groups
- IT skills European Computer Driving License or equivalent
- Further Health Related Qualifications
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of experience with a broad range of general rehabilitation conditions
Desirable criteria
- Previous Community Experience
- Respiratory experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to manage complex caseload
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of an MDT
- Well developed communication skills with the ability to communicate and extract complex information.
- Ability to produce clear concise written information
- Time management skills
- Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical governance and risk
- Commitment to engage in CPD
- Ability to appraise own performance
- Basic computer skills
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of research and audit
- Awareness of relevant National guidance
- Experience of supervision of rehabilitation assistants
- Experience in service development
