Job overview
The pharmacy department is looking for a dependable, enthusiastic and motivated Senior pharmacy assistant to help supervise our Distribution & Medical Gas Team.
The individuals will help us deliver a high quality and efficient patient focused service.
The ideal candidates will have good levels of stamina, be physically fit with good attention to detail and possess good communication skills, be flexible, committed and a good team player.
Main duties of the job
Ensure the timely collection and delivery of ward generated prescriptions / orders to the appropriate areas within the Pharmacy Department
Distribute medical gases and pharmaceutical products to wards and departments within the Hospitals on the Oxford Road Campus.
Assist the Pharmacy Distribution & Medical Gas Team Leader in the provision and maintenance of an effective service with respect to the department’s distribution & medical gas functions.
To participate in the Medical Gas On-call rota.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent nationally recognised qualification
- GCSE’S or equivalent (C or above) in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- Procurement qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of experience in a public sector distribution/medical gases role.
- Experience and understanding of stock management processes and stock take
- Experience of medical gas management of storage and distribution
Desirable criteria
- Experience of training and developing other staff.
- Experience of involvement in producing and evaluating SOPs
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of hospital distribution practices
- Knowledge of hospital procurement service including ordering and stock control
- Knowledge of medical gases and liquid nitrogen process and procedures
- Knowledge of audits and risk assessments
- Demonstrates an understanding of Health and Safety policies and standards
