Main duties of the job

We work in mainstream schools providing assessment, direct therapy, training, group work, and much more. This regular input to the settings means that we can be creative in the ways that we work to ensure we have the most impact.

Our team is a large, well-established and supportive department. We provide you with regular clinical supervision, protected time for CPD opportunities and support from an experienced team. We also offer a comprehensive induction program, 1-1’s and annual appraisals to develop knowledge and skills. We aim to ensure every member of the team is fulfilled in their role and as we are a large service, there are opportunities for career development and to work on service development projects.

The Manchester Speech and Language Therapy Service is a city-wide service providing support to young people aged 0-19 years in Manchester Special Support Schools. You will need to have a good theoretical knowledge of paediatric speech, language and communication needs, including difficulties with feeding and swallowing and social communication. You will also need knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting an inner city, multi-ethnic community.
