Lung Cancer Screening Specialist Nurse

Job overview

Do you want to work in a service where we diagnose lung cancer early and save people’s lives?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the expanded Greater Manchester Targeted Lung Health Check programme. This award-winning programme delivers lung cancer screening to people aged between 55 and 74 years old, who have ever smoked in their lifetimes, from mobile clinics in the community.

This post will be mainly based in mobile clinics in the community sites throughout Greater Manchester.

Training and induction will be completed at Wythenshawe hospital and at mobile sites (supermarkets and football stadiums) in the community

Travel payments will be made for any travel completed above home to base mileage.

You will receive an enhanced induction and training package and be part of an established team with support for you to thrive in your role and contribute to improved patient care, health, and quality of life.

Main duties of the job

As a Lung Health Check Specialist nurse you will be responsible for carrying out detailed assessments on patients who attend for lung cancer screening.

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse
  • Evidence of relevant post qualification study at postgraduate level or equivalent knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching/mentor/assessor qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Nurse – Relevant experience at Band 5 in the relevant setting
  • Evidence of working independently
  • Participating in audit/patient surveys
  • Evidence of managing within a clinical area
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary / interdisciplinary team.
  • Awareness of relevant national and Local targets / NSF Frameworks
  • Evidence of relevant CPD
  • Awareness of the Clinical Governance agenda.
