Qualifications and Registration

Essential criteria

RN (Child) or equivalent
Registered Nurse with current NMC Pin (RN child or RSCN)
MSc APNP or MSc ACP
V300 Non Medical Prescribing
Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable criteria

Specialist Community Practitioner qualification or significant post registration experience in a community setting

Experience

Essential criteria

Substantial post registration experience working with children
Evidence of working as an autonomous practitioner at an advanced level
Evidence for advanced clinical knowledge and relevant experience in managing care for children and young people with both acute and chronic illnesses
Experience of managing own caseload
Experience of communication and collaborative working across organisational boundaries

Desirable criteria

Experience of working with children young people in a community setting

Ability to demonstrate advanced clinical assessments, history taking and diagnostic skills
Ability to motivate self and others
Ability to deliver individualised evidence-based care and treatment plans

Remote developmental histories and child observations (via video calls)
Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.

ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People, based in our Exeter clinic
