An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, Mental Health Midwife to join our midwifery team working across our Oldham and Rochdale sites.  You will work closely with the local perinatal mental health team and others to ensure that there are clear integrated pathways of care for women with perinatal mental illness.  You will be part of a dedicated team who continually evaluate the service so that it is person-centred, quality driven and responsive.

We are looking for a Midwife who has completed preceptorship and is passionate about providing enhanced, client centred care within the mental health pathway who can work independently and as part of the MDT.

You will be committed to delivering high quality care that is responsive to the needs of the local community and will actively engage the people who use our services to improve care delivery and service co-design, ensuring feedback is used to improve perinatal mental health services.

Main duties of the job

To work with the Lead Specialist Midwife for Maternal Mental Health as a member of the Mental Health team to provide support for women with mental health concerns.

To support the Specialist Midwife in Mental Health, to ensure the organisation meets its Mental Health responsibilities throughout the childbirth continuum.

The post holder will work across community maternity services and within a multi-agency arena, providing advice and support to Care organisation staff on Mental health issues.  They will deliver training and participate in the delivery of signposting and support for other professionals under the direction of the Specialist Midwife for Mental Health. 

The post holder will be required to work in partnership with other agencies providing health

Qualifications & Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife with current NMC Pin
  • Degree / Diploma in Midwifery
  • Evidence of CPD

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of key issues pertinent to maternal mental health
  • Completed midwifery preceptorship
  • Sound knowledge of midwifery care pathways
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of adult safeguarding
