Job overview

The NCA NHS Foundation Trust  is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the senior midwifery leadership team in this role of Midwifery Matron.   This role will be centred around the provision of high quality clinical leadership to drive improvements and optimise the delivery of care to women and their families. 

The postholder will be a key member of the leadership team with specific responsibility for Labour Ward, Maternity Triage and Maternity Theatres. 

They will work in partnership with the wider MDT and external stakeholders to develop, promote, and facilitate quality improvement across all Maternity settings within the NCA.

Main duties of the job

As a Matron within the CSU, you will role model the principles of CLM, servant leadership and the NCA’s leadership behaviours to shape culture and service direction.

You will provide visible, professional leadership and be operationally responsible for the delivery of high quality, safe, and effective care across a defined group of wards, teams or services within a CSU.

You will ensure clinical standards are met, workforce is effectively managed, and patient experience is continuously improved.

Qualifications & Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife with current NMC Pin
  • Degree in Midwifery or equivalent
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching / Mentorship Qualificaiton

Knowledge & Experience

  • Demonstrates operational leadership within healthcare settings

  • Ability to implement operational changes
