This is a full-time, 37.5-hour per week fixed-term position for 2 years. Secondments will be considered with prior agreement from your line manager. Main duties of the job

About the Role:
As a key leader in our department, you will be responsible for assessing the care needs of our young patients, developing tailored care programs, and evaluating their outcomes. You will serve as the named care provider for a specific group of children and support the overall care of all patients within your unit.
Your Leadership and Expertise:
In this role, you will provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff, championing evidence-based practice. You will work closely with the Ward/Unit Manager, stepping in confidently when needed, to ensure the smooth running of the department.
Collaboration and Development:
You will liaise with our dedicated Mental Health teams, ensuring that our practices align with local and national guidelines. Supporting staff wellbeing and promoting a positive, nurturing environment will be a key part of your role. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide training and development to colleagues, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

We are a friendly and supportive team, committed to the Organisation's Kindness Collaborative, which underpins our compassionate approach to care. Our beautifully designed, bright, and spacious unit includes Paediatric Inpatients, Critical Care, Surgery, and a Paediatric Observation and Assessment area. We also feature a large playroom, outdoor play area, sensory room, and facilities that allow young people to spend time away from their bedspace.
Our Community Teams provide a wide range of nursing services, both in clinics and in children’s homes, working collaboratively with therapy teams to maximise opportunities and positive outcomes for children and young people.

- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Experience of working with children in an acute setting
Essential Qualifications

- Degree / diploma in nursing studies (or equivalent nursing qualification and experience)
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
- Experience of working collaboratively with team members
Desirable criteria
- Change Management / Quality Improvement Qualification
- Evidence of involvement in teaching / learning / Development of others
- Strong use of reflective practice
Knowledge, Skills + Experience
Essential criteria
- Communicates succinctly, clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing
- Be an effective team member who is able to relate to colleagues at all levels of the Trust with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to coordinate your workload and supervise members of the team, ensuring high quality, safe and effective patient care
- Demonstrates evidence based clinical knowledge
- Experience in participating in Quality Improvement projects
- Involvement in Audits and evaluation of results
- Demonstrate proactive problem solving
- Experience of providing training to colleagues
Desirable criteria
- Post registration experience in an acute paediatric nursing
- Experience of the use in clinical systems
- Current APLS certification
- Experience in project management
