Job overview

Undertakes duties in support of the Pharmacists and other Technical Staff. Assists in the provision of a safe and effective pharmaceutical service in order to meet department and corporate objectives.

This role can be offered as a developmental post for those initially employed at band 2.

Main duties of the job

  • Reception duties within the department
  • Receipt and storage of medications
  • Provide a ward stock topping up service to wards and departments
  •  Dispensing pharmaceutical products
  • Contribute to 7 day service, Bank Holidays and Late Night Rotas
  •  Undertake NVQ level 2 in Pharmaceutical Services

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Commitment to training to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent if not already obtained
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 - pharmacy

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy
  • Skilled in computer keyboard and applications

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of the range of duties involved in the post
  • Able to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Good timekeeper
  • Good communication skills
