Job overview

The Senior radiographer operates as a member of the Radiography team, working independently using initiative, knowledge and organisational skills to provide an efficient and high quality imaging service, whilst dealing with patients and managing patient priority in a caring and professional manner.

You will provide daily support to colleagues, students and all members of the multi-disciplinary team while working in a challenging environment.

This post is not part time. The successfull candidate will be required to work flexibly which includes evening working and also 8-8 long days on a Saturday and Sunday and 1 long day a week at Oldham Integrated Care Centre

 

 

Main duties of the job

The Senior Radiographer maintains a high standard of clinical work when carrying out radiographic procedures acting in the best interests of patients at all time. The senior Radiographer position, who will be expected to take on the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) role to ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations and local rules. The post holder will support the clinical department manager by undertaking the RPS training with Christie Medical Physics Expert (CMPE) and undertake all responsibilities that may be delegated by the clinical department manager

 

You will provide leadership to your team and act as the senior point of contact throughout the shift. You will liaise with referrers and work towards providing the best turnaround times for plain film imaging.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • UK BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR (R) or pending
  • HCPC Registration or pending

Experience

Essential criteria
  • FFP3 tested
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the principles of Radiography.
  • Ability to perform a variety of imaging on the neonatal intensive care unit
  • Able to perform cone beam CT scans
  • Competent in all aspects of theatre radiography including orthpaedic trauma
  • Able to peform non accidental injury skeletal surveys
  • Extensive experience working as a Diagnostic Radiographer

Other

Essential criteria
  • Ability to carry out moderate physical effort throughout the working day including the use of an image intensifer in theatre
