Job overview

We are looking for highly motivated and band 3 experienced individuals with a passion for expanding their knowledge and experience in treating patients with a varied of surgical interventions and stoma care.  Ward G4 is a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you can utilize a variety of transferable skills to deliver the highest level of patient care. Here, you'll gain valuable experience working with patients from multiple specialties.

Our unit is committed to offering comprehensive support to all our patients, both physically and mentally, from diagnosis through surgery and ongoing treatment. Although the acute care setting can be challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding.

This position includes extensive training, as well as personal and professional support throughout your tenure.

Our surgical ward  provide  extensive learning opportunities available to our staff. We take pride in our commitment to excellence in patient care and staff development.

Main duties of the job

 The trust will ensure that all staff receive the appropriate additional training required and will receive specialist support from the colorectal nurses.

Your care for other people and your willingness to go above and beyond to provide the best possible care to patients and relatives will ensure your success in the role.  Friendly and approachable in your style, you’ll be someone who can communicate well, be able to organise your workload accordingly and be a reliable point of support for patients, relatives and your colleagues.

Completion of an NVQ level 2, apprenticeship in Care or equivalent training is essential for this role, please refer to the job description.

Changes to the UK immigration policy introduced on the 9th April 2025, increased the minimum salary threshold for certificates of sponsorship applications for Health and Care Worker Visa from £23,200 (£11.90 per hour) to £25,000 (£12.82 per hour). Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
  • Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
  • Care Certificate

Skills & Abilities

  • Good communication skills

  • Good organisational skills

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
  • Experience of working within a team
