Main duties of the job

The People & OD Business Partner is required to work in a business focused way in support of a designated care group for which they will be required to fully understand the strategic vision and direction to effectively diagnose and engage appropriate strategic and operational workforce and development input and support, ensuring deployment of the Trust-wide workforce strategy to make the Trust an outstanding place to work. This role is an autonomous practitioner and will require the use of workforce and OD skills, working closely with management teams and employees to improve the employee experience within the service and Trust. They will act as a conduit between the Care Groups and the HR & OD Directorate and will ensure specialist input from members of the HR & OD Directorate to facilitate delivery of the Care Group’s business plans. They will provide insight to Associate Directors and senior managers based on workforce intelligence and reporting and ensure action is taken where appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The contractual base for the role will be Harrop House, Prestwich, however we fully support an agile way of working, including home working. These roles will be required to spend a large proportion of their time within the Care Groups and Division that the role is aligned to.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Chartered MCIPD qualified or equivalent qualification/experience to masters level
  • Demonstrable evidence of recent continuing professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of working as a Business Partner handling highly complex, issues and projects in the people directorate
  • Experience of working in a complex organisation with a wide range of staff groups, stakeholders and in partnership with trade unions
  • Experience of delivering large scale organisational change including TUPE
  • Experience of writing, presenting, and leading on the delivery of detailed information to support corporate objectives
  • Experience of developing long term strategic plans for performance, service improvement
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of designing and delivering OD interventions to support overall team improvements

Skills / Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability to foster an organisational culture that is positive about change and committed to delivery of the strategic vision
  • Able to influence, negotiate and persuade regarding complex or sensitive issues
