Main duties of the job
Be the Difference in Exceptional Patient Care
We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our team and deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in a dynamic ophthalmic setting.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain NMC registration and professional standards
- Build strong relationships and communication with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families
- Act as a patient advocate to ensure the best outcomes and experiences
- Stay up to date with current nursing and healthcare developments
- Participate in Preceptorship and Clinical Supervision programmes
- Lead the pre-assessment and planning of ophthalmic injection patients across settings
- Safely manage and deliver Intravitreal Injections
- Work in line with national, Trust, and local policies and standards
- Ensure proper use and operation of medical equipment
Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver direct care including eye medication administration
- Provide pre- and post-operative ophthalmic care
- Safely position patients and support diagnostic procedures
- Contribute to the assessment, planning, and evaluation of care delivery

Qualifications & Professional Registration
Essential criteria
- Degree / diploma in nursing studies (or equivalent nursing qualification and experience)
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Part 1 Adult / General Level 1 or 2)
- Ophthalmic course
- Nurse injector course
Desirable criteria
- Recognised teaching course
- Leadership course
- V300 Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the eye anatomy and physiology
- Worked within an ophthalmic outpatient or surgical setting within the last 3 years
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate an interest in the speciality
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria
- Previous leadership experience within an ophthalmic setting
- Excellent communication skills
- Competent telephone manner
- Good knowledge of computer soft wear inc, open eyes
- To demonstrate the ability to work within a team and under own initiative
- To demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and Ability to work methodically and manage time effectively. 7 evaluate care for the ophthalmic patient and have knowledge of Intravitreal injections
