Job overview
We are delighted to offer a fantastic 12 month secondment opportunity to work within our Innovative Podiatry Department, Rochdale Care Organisation which is part of the Northern Care Alliance . We have a NICE compliant MDT and excellent relations with support services in the hospital, in particular Microbiology, Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, Vascular and Radiology.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Podiatrist to provide secondment cover with the ability to provide expert clinical practice in the advanced assessment, diagnosis and treatment of ‘high risk’ patients in our integrated acute and community service.
Our Podiatry Department has a strong, enthusiastic and dedicated team of clinicians whose work ethic is exemplary. We are committed to excellent patient care and as a busy team, we see a varied and unique mix of patients who have very complex needs.
Main duties of the job
- To provide expert clinical practice in the advanced assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients ‘at risk’.
- To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
- To undertake a significant clinical caseload and to support other practitioners on complex cases.
- To be responsible for the day to day provision of wound care treatments for the most acutely high risk patients using highly developed specialist knowledge.
- To use knowledge of biomechanical and pathomechanical conditions to arrange for the provision and production of off-loading devices where appropriate.
- To undertake research, audit and evaluation of clinical practice in relation to the management of high risk podiatry.
- Persuade and influence a high risk and demanding client group in improving their overall health to promote wound healing.
- To liaise with primary, secondary and community care teams to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to improvement of foot pathology.

Essential criteria
- • Degree in Podiatry
- • Masters level degree or equivalent training / experience
Desirable criteria
- • Leadership qualification
- • Non-medical prescriber
- • Good Clinical Practice Training
Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- • Significant Post registration experience
- • Highly specialist knowledge of ‘at risk’ patient care at the highest level. Including knowledge of biomechanical and pathomechanical conditions and experience in the provision and production of offloading devices
- • Experience in audit and evaluation.
- • Experience of supervising other staff and students
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of developing standards, guidelines, policies and protocols.
