  1. Service/Ward/Department Summary:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-motivated candidate to get involved with a dynamic and evolving service. Prospect Place is a Low Secure Unit for male patients with complex needs. The unit has 45 beds, spread over 3 wards, on the Birch Hill Hospital site, in Rochdale. We are currently looking to appoint to a number of band 2 positions. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic individuals, who uphold the Trust’s values to work under the guidance of qualified staff, to deliver a wide range of healthcare interventions to our patients.

We care for patients with a severe enduring mental illness with co-morbid substance use, personality disorder and challenging behaviour. Many of our referrals are taken from medium secure, low secure, prison, PICU and acute environments. The unit benefits from a variety of practitioners and roles including occupational therapy, social work, dual diagnosis, medical staff, and psychology in addition to the nursing teams.

In the most recent CQC inspection Prospect Place, was rated as Good for being Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led.

Prospect Place is a member of the Quality Network for Forensic Mental Health Services. This is a peer review process with other Low and Medium secure units across the country.

Prospect Place was rated 4 Stars by students in the last PARE evaluation assessment.

Role Summary:

As a Nursing assistant on the unit you will have the chance to contribute to the quality of care provided and will be valued by the wider multi-disciplinary team.

We are committed to working collaboratively with our patients and providing a service that is least restrictive whilst also fitting with the boundaries that are appropriate to low secure risk management.

Key Responsibilities of the Post:

Assist the Nursing team in developing a service that will ensure that the needs of patients are met with regard to their age, spiritual, cultural, ethnic and sexual orientation

To assist the Nursing team with the on-going development of the unit

To contribute to the day to day running of the unit

In consultation with the multi-disciplinary team, ensure high standards of individual care for patients and that they are fully consulted and involved in every aspect of their care

To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and both statutory and non-statutory organizations involved with client care

To assist the Nursing team in ensuring high quality of evidence-based practice is carried out by all staff within the unit
