Job overview

We now have a vacancy for a Band 4  Medical Secretary to work within the Dermatology Team at Salford Royal Hospital. The hours are 28 per week, fixed term for 12 months.

The purpose of this post is to provide a comprehensive secretarial service within the Division.

The post holder will provide a confident professional service to all patients and their carers, whilst supporting them throughout their pathway of care. It is vital that confidentiality be maintained at all times. The post holder must adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.

Main duties of the job

The post holder’s main duties will include audio and live transcription, managing OP slot utilisation, waiting list management, 18 Week RTT and cancer pathway management and liaising with patients to manage patient pathways.

The Medical Secretary will be expected to work with minimal supervision. He/she will also be able to demonstrate flexibility and use their own initiative to carry out duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation, thus enabling the clinical team to utilise their time in an efficient and effective manner.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Medical Secretary elsewhere or as a Clinical Support Secretary in this Trust

  • Ability to communicate with patients and senior members of staff
