Highly Specialist Stroke Dietitian

Band 7

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and innovative Dietitian to lead on the inpatient Stroke service  as part of the Neurosciences dietetic team, based at Salford Care Organisation.

Salford is one of three Hyper-Acute Stroke centres in Greater Manchester providing acute and rehabilitation care to stroke patients. This role will deliver specialist clinical work, lead on service development, involve close MDT working and provide the opportunity to supervise and manage junior staff. Since patients who have experienced a stroke are often prone to nutritional complications, working in the acute Stroke service is both challenging and rewarding. For this new position we are looking for a creative and enthusiastic dietitian who can pioneer the role to meet the needs of the service and patient population.

We are a supportive and forward-thinking department, keen to explore and support extended roles within specialisms and strengthen the dietitian’s role within the MDT to minimise delays in treatment, optimise of nutritional status in a timely manner and improve patient care.

We would be keen to work with the right applicant whether they are an experienced band 7 dietitian with transferable skills in nutrition support or an experienced band 6 dietitian wanting to develop their skill set to a band 7 level. Whilst existing experience working within Stroke is desirable, it is not essential.

Main duties of the job

To lead on the provision of a dietetic service to Stroke patients at Salford Royal. This will involve close working within ward staff and the wider MDT to further develop the service and deliver quality care. There will also be opportunities to work with the existing Neuro Band 7's and the wider Neuro Dietetic Team to deliver quality care, take part in/lead on audits and QI projects and training.

If you are a motivated, compassionate, and dynamic person who is able to use your own initiative, be flexible in your approach, and are inspired to be part of a developing service, come and join us.
