Reporting to the Senior Manager within Digital Service Delivery, your role will be to optimise our IT resources by developing and maintaining asset management processes, managing hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle, and the development and maintenance of Digital’s CMDB.

Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of this role is to work within Digital Operations to optimise our IT resources by developing and maintaining asset management processes, managing hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle, and the development and maintenance of Digital’s CMDB.

As the IT Asset Manager, you will contribute to asset and budget planning, be responsible for ensuring we have robust policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. You will also contribute to promote asset efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and innovation within the Trust.

You will also be involved in project work giving specialist input as well as working as technical resource. You will be expected to be able to work on tasks with very limited input from line management.

Provide specialist advice across several system areas. These will include the ITSM and Network scanning tools used within the department.

Responsible for aiding strategic planning of the Digital infrastructure within specialised areas to ensure it remains in support and fit for purpose. To manage and deliver projects for both internal infrastructure upgrades and decommissions, as well as new services to end users.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant degree level (or equivalent) or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • ITIL Service Management foundation certification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • ILM Qualification.
  • Project Management Qualification.
  • Industry certifications related to IT asset management or software licensing, such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM), or other relevant qualifications.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a medium to large organisation supporting users of IT equipment and systems
  • Experience in a customer focused environment
Desirable criteria
  • NHS Experience
  • Experience installing/supporting clinical applications within NHS environment

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Advanced knowledge of a broad range of IT solutions, including ITSM, Software Inventory and Reporting Tools.
  • Able to evaluate and define use of new IT solutions through research and development and build of test configurations.
  • Experience in managing Digital assets.
  • Creation and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic plans.
  • A comprehensive understanding of IT Service Asset Management principles, processes, and best practices related to IT asset management, including lifecycle management, procurement, deployment, and disposal.
  • Industry Standards and Best Practices: Awareness of industry standards, such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), and best practices related to IT asset and software license management.

  • Ability to coach and mentor staff to develop their technical skills and experience.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Proven ability to work to critical deadlines and to effectively prioritise workload.

  • Ability to travel within the requirements of the post, including transporting appropriate equipment when required.
