Non-Medical Consultant- Multiple Sclerosis

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 18 month secondment as a Non-Medical consultant in Multiple Sclerosis. (MS).
The Multiple Sclerosis team is one of the many specialist teams within the division of Manchester Centre for clinical Neurosciences, based at Salford Care Organisation, however covering the Greater Manchester region.
This is a collaborative working project (CWP) in conjunction with Novartis Pharmaceuticals aiming to improve capacity within the MS service in Greater Manchester.
The successful candidate will require enhanced knowledge and expertise in Multiple Sclerosis in order to support patient facing clinics to review and when appropriate optimise treatment for patients identified within the CWP.
They will require great organisational and IT skills to undertake administrative duties, including MDT, and enhanced communication skills to allow for specific clinical discussions around complex cases.

The non-medical consultant will provide highly specialist professional advice, consultancy, clinical expertise and leadership within the Multiple Sclerosis (MS)team.
They will require demonstration of advanced skills and competences to influence/inform in the delivery of high quality care for MS patients.
The non-medical consultant will establish an evidence base for practice through benchmarking, audit and research in line with clinical governance and to disseminate this through appropriate channels on a local, regional, national and international basis as appropriate.
The post holder will develop and strengthen links across inter-professional boundaries to promote excellence in practice. This will include strategic service development to implement and develop optimal care/services for patients as part of the leadership team, plus leading on and embedding local and national policies.
The post holder will provide strong leadership and consultancy within scope of expertise to the Multiple Sclerosis service and the wider organisation and partner stakeholders.
The post holder will actively develop and contribute to the research and evaluation agenda within the speciality and care models, ensuring continuous improvement and development of evidence-based care models.
The post holder will provide managerial and professional leadership for the Lead practitioner in Multiple Sclerosis.
