Job overview
Health Care Assistants looking for an exciting challenge and a wealth of opportunities are encouraged to join our current team on Ward H7.
We are a 22 bedded neurosurgical ward. We have patients from up and down the country elective surgery patients with 8 beds on H7 as part of an Enhanced Care Beds for patients post operative. Alongside the ward senior nursing team the ward is supported by specialist nurse teams and medical team.
As a Health Care Assistant you will be responsible for supporting our Team to ensure that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.

As per Agenda for Change, if you are new to the NHS your starting salary would be £24,937 (minimum Band 3 salary point from 1st April 2025 in line with National Living Wage requirements). This salary point is below the new minimum threshold, and therefore not eligible for sponsorship. Main duties of the job
As a Health Care Assistant you will assist the Health Care practitioner to carry out routine health related activities and complete personal care and activities of daily living ensuring patient led focused care.
You will record patient information and provide clinical support as required to help ensure the efficient and effective running of the work area, including delegated tasks such as recording physiological observations, recording blood glucose, undertaking ECG, bladder scanning and venepuncture and cannulation.
You will provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
- Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
Desirable criteria
- Care Certificate
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
- Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners
- Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good communication (written and verbal skills)
- Basic IT skills
- Good organisational skills
