Job overview
Are you an experienced pharmacist ready to specialise and lead in gastroenterology? We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated clinical pharmacist, with an interest in gastroenterology, to join our supportive, friendly, dynamic patient focused clinical pharmacy team. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team you will provide highly specialist pharmacy input to the gastroenterology team. You will provide expert pharmaceutical care to a range of gastroenterology patients with complex conditions such as Inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease and short term parental nutrition requirements ensuring the safe and appropriate use of high-cost medicines. The post presents an excellent opportunity to lead and shape pharmaceutical care for patients with complex gastroenterology and nutritional needs allowing you to further develop your leadership and specialist pharmaceutical skills. You will be supported to complete the NCA Accelerated leader development programme.
Main duties of the job
Work collaboratively with the MDT to deliver advanced clinical pharmacy services to gastroenterology inpatients.
Lead and provide highly specialist pharmaceutical input to the short-term nutrition team.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support gastroenterology day case patients and outpatient clinics. This will include supporting the processing of gastroenterology biologic homecare prescriptions.
Contribute to service development, quality improvement projects and audits within the speciality.
Work as an independent prescriber to optimise medicine regimes for patients.
Along with all other members of the clinical team, contribute to the provision of the extended hours and on call pharmacy service.

- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a practicing pharmacist.
Essentia Qualifications

- Vocational Master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Post Grad Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
- Non-Medical Prescriber qualification
Knowledge and skills
Essential criteria
- Extensive professional knowledge acquired through vocational master’s degree in pharmacy
- Pre-registration training and experience
- Significant post qualification hospital experience or equivalent documented experience
- Good all-round clinical knowledge and practical clinical skills
- Skills for analysing drug charts and complex patient, medicines or financial information in order to provide advice on medicines, dosages and expenditure
- Commitment to continuing professional development / education
- Good time management skills
