Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced hospital pharmacist to join our team. As Application/Specialist Clinical Pharmacist, you will work in partnership with the Salford Royal Hospital pharmacy department and the NCA Digital Team to contribute to the maintenance and support of the hospital’s current enterprise and clinical application, specifically related to medication prescribing and administration.

In addition to this, you will provide support, alongside colleagues from across the NCA, in the development and implementation of any new electronic prescribing system.

You will also provide a clinical pharmacy service on a 50% basis to a specific directorate. We will support you to develop your clinical and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

To act as specialist Pharmacist throughout the service in relation to the design and implementation of clinical applications.

To support on the development and implementation of electronic prescribing within the Trust in support of the Medicines Safety Agenda.

To foster and maintain links with appropriate clinical and management staff, both within and outside the Trust, as part of the support and implementation of clinical information systems.

To form part of the Enterprise and Clinical Applications Team and support with development, support, maintenance and clinical check of electronic prescribing and medicines administration configuration within NCA clinical systems.

Analysis of current work practices/workflows and redesign utilising the clinical application.

Work closely with other pharmacists to provide a ward based clinical pharmacy service to a specialised area.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Vocational master’s degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Certification of non-medical Prescribing

Professional registration

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Knowledge, training and skills

Essential criteria
  • Extensive professional knowledge acquired through vocational master’s degree in pharmacy
  • Pre-registration training and experience
  • Extensive post qualification clinical pharmacy experience
  • Experience in the use of clinical systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in the configuration of clinical systems
