Job overview
The post holder will provide clinical leadership and direction for all practitioners in maintaining clinical and non-clinical standards of care and in implementing quality service improvements including ensuring that Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards are met.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide the leadership, operational co-ordination and management for the Older Adult Acute Mental Health community services in the designated borough. This will involve working closely with the borough Associate Director and partner agencies to ensure the delivery and development of high quality services within the borough.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for: Intensive Home Treatment Service, Older Peoples Community Mental
Health Teams, Memory Assessment Service and Day hospital where applicable
• Be responsible for the leadership and management of allocated teams within a defined
model and actively manage the pathway between services ensuring service users receive
timely access to services appropriate to their needs.
• Represent mental health services for older people at key strategic development forums as
requested and deputise for the Associate Director where required.
• Contribute to the assessment and analysis of needs of older people with mental health
problems within the care hub.
• Contribute to the development of a range of services for older people with mental
health problems alongside other professionals and voluntary and independent sector
agencies.
• Develop working relationships with other stakeholders to contribute to the integration of
older people’s mental health services in accordance with the locality plan and local and
national agendas.
• Ensure robust arrangements of user and carer representatives to further develop older
people’s services through working groups.
• Ensure active representation of older people’s issues at key internal and external care hub meetings
• To act as a source of clinical advice and expertise in relation to the care of Older People
with mental health problems internally and externally
• Produce and implement annual business plans to meet the requirements of the Trust and
service strategy.
• With the Associate Director, agree and implement a quality and performance assessment
framework for operational services.
• Manage service budgets responsibly to ensure cost effective services, in agreement with
the Associate Director in accordance with the Trust Standing Financial Instructions
• Monitor and work towards achieving all KPIs for the service at both a Trust and locally
agreed level.
• Participate in a rota to ensure 7-day site manager cover and be part of the senior
management team in the borough and contribute to local business continuity planning.
• Take a lead on investigations into serious incidents, complaints and coroners enquiries as
directed.
• Monitor with external bodies the Practice Placements for pre and post graduate learning.
• Develop care pathways and protocols with referring agencies and commissioners to
address policy guidance and standards.
• Jointly monitor care planning and purchasing processes with the Local
Authority/ICB/CCG. Ensure effective commissioning strategies are implemented to meet
the assessed needs of older people with mental health problems.

- Qualified and registered RMN Post graduate training relevant to mental health / leadership / management Evidence of continued professional development

- Educated to masters level (or equivalent) in relevant area Management / leadership qualification Other relevant clinical qualification Project management experience or qualification
