Nurse Hysteroscopist - 12 month contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Nurse Hysteroscopist to join the Gynaecology Team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 12 Month Maternity Cover 

The postholder will play a key role in the delivery and development of the outpatient hysteroscopy service, providing high-quality care for women referred with abnormal uterine bleeding and other gynaecological conditions. Working within an established multidisciplinary team, the Nurse Hysteroscopist will undertake diagnostic and where appropriately trained, operative hysteroscopy procedures in an outpatient setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients, obtaining informed consent, performing procedures, communicating findings and treatment options, and ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care throughout their treatment pathway.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake outpatient diagnostic hysteroscopy procedures and, where appropriately trained and competent, perform operative hysteroscopy procedures in accordance with local and national guidelines.
  • Assess, investigate, and manage patients referred to the hysteroscopy service, developing and implementing appropriate management plans.
  • Obtain informed consent and ensure patients receive clear information regarding procedures, findings, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Provide high-quality, compassionate care, ensuring patients are supported throughout their treatment pathway.
  • Request and interpret relevant investigations within the scope of practice and act upon results appropriately.
  • Work autonomously within agreed clinical protocols while recognising own limitations and seeking senior support when required.
  • Contribute to the delivery of waiting time and activity targets through effective management of outpatient hysteroscopy clinics.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, junior doctors, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide seamless patient care.
  • Participate in service development initiatives to improve patient experience, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement projects.
  • Maintain professional registration and demonstrate ongoing professional development.
  • Adhere to Trust policies, national standards, and professional codes of conduct at all times.
