Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HR Advisor to join our friendly team. You will provide professional and business focused HR
support and advice to managers and will be aligned to specific Divisions working alongside colleagues and the wider HR team.
The role offers the opportunity to develop a broad generalist portfolio of HR experience in a supportive and proactive team environment. You will
support and advise on a wide range of issues including sickness absence management, disciplinary and grievance, change management and
interpretation of policies and terms and conditions of employment.
This role will involve working flexibly, which could include working from the main office on the Stepping Hill site, community locations and there is
also the opportunity to work from home on a hybrid arrangement.

This post is fixed term for a 12 month period

Main duties of the job

To provide a focused HR service, ensuring that professional, proactive, comprehensive and effective HR advice and support is provided to line
managers within a designated business groups throughout the Trust.
To ensure that the service provided is consistent within defined quality standards and all relevant policies and procedures in order to ensure the
HR strategy, objectives and key performance indicators are implemented effectively across the organisation.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and
volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately

Person specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree or equivalent level of experience
  • Possession of graduate membership of the CIPD or Equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of HR best practice and an up to date knowledge of employment legislation
  • Good knowledge of NHS terms and conditions of employment
  • Understanding of the importance & requirements of Data Protection and Confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of key NHS issues including national and local policy drivers, and the modernisation agenda

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Generalist HR experience and evidence of dealing with operational employee relations issues in a multi-disciplinary professional environment
  • Delivering front line advice and guidance to managers and staff on conditions of employment and employee relation issues
  • Working in a challenging, busy HR environment with competing demands
  • Undertaking tasks, which demonstrate ability to work on your own initiative
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of policy review, development and implementation
  • Experience of HR practice in the NHS and working in a unionised environment

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Able to use HR databases and information systems
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to provide excellent management information as required
  • Ability to use own initiative to interpret policies, procedures and situations in order to identify pragmatic solutions/ recommendations on a case-by-case basis.
  • Focused, with good organisation and planning skills to manage a large workload in a pressurised environment
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Medical Staffing terms and conditions
  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills
