Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for dedicated and self-motivated Physiotherapist with a special interest in spinal conditions to join our Integrated Therapy Team within Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. This post is split across MSK Physiotherapy based at Kingsgate House and Outpatient Therapies based at Stepping Hill Hospital.
The Musculoskeletal and Outpatient Therapy Services are busy and forward thinking providers of Community Outpatient Physiotherapy across various clinic sites in Stockport as well as within secondary care. We receive referrals for acute and chronic conditions from GPs, ESPs, Orthopaedic Consultants, Pain Clinic and occupational health.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person who has experience in treating a wide variety of Musculoskeletal Conditions within a diverse population and is able to promote self-management and act as an expert in their field providing support to other members of the team.
Main duties of the job
As an integral member of the team you will work collaboratively with other Clinical Leads and be involved in pathway work within your specialist area, implementing appropriate clinical guidelines and patient pathways.
You will be responsible for the provision of an advanced specialist Physiotherapy service for patients referred with spinal conditions providing an accurate diagnosis and managing a defined caseload of patients with highly complex needs, using evidence based /patient centred principles in a variety of locations, maintaining associated records.
You will provide clinical and managerial leadership in your specialist area through clinical supervision, in service training and mentoring, supporting the team promote an efficient and effective service.
As part of your role you will commit to supervise, educate and assess the performance of students to a graduate standard and work with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD postgraduate learning related to MSK conditions
Desirable criteria
- Management and leadership skills training accreditation
- Membership of CSP
- Clinical Educators/Field worker course or equivalent.
- M’ level or equivalent courses in relevant speciality
Experience
Essential criteria
- Clinical experience as a Band 6 with specialist knowledge of Musculoskeletal conditions
- Supervision of senior and junior staff and students
- Broad base of clinical experience prior to specializing
- Experience of research and/or project management/service development
- Experience dealing with GP referrals
- Experience of MDT working
Desirable criteria
- Previous Band 7 experience in relevant post
- Experience of managing change
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Advanced knowledge of a wide range of relevant conditions and their management
- An understanding of Clinical governance and evidence based practice
- Knowledge of recent NHS and Trust developments and their impact on the service
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Advanced clinical reasoning skills & high level problem solving skills
- Ability to expertly use and apply a range of assessment and treatment techniques and approaches to the management of conditions relevant to MSK Physiotherapy.
- Ability to pass on knowledge and skills to others in both formal and informal environments
- Ability to communicate effectively and flexibly and to adapt communication style to the needs of patients, carers and staff.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate as appropriate and to manage time effectively
- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire others
- Up to date in professional practice and new research
