Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly developed Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) in Salford. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist into this Band 4 role. The successful candidate will have a role in supporting with the Best Start for Life perinatal and parent-infant relationships delivery plan. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of CAMHs or Adult Mental Health Services and ideally have experience of working with infants and/or parents. Under supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, you will be expected to contribute to the clinical offer within PAIRS, in addition to data collection and service evaluation. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of professional who are dedicated to providing the best possible care for parents and their infants in Salford.
Main duties of the job
This post involves assisting in the delivery and development of the PAIRS team and supporting early years clinicians in their direct work with babies and their families.
The post holder will assist with a wide range of duties at all stages of service delivery -assessment, intervention, and evaluation. Duties may include the development of resources, including online materials, audit and service development and support to both group delivery and online workshops.
The post holder will also be expected to assist CAMHS clinicians in the preparation, delivery and evaluation of a variety of clinical, teaching and research tasks. The post holder will act under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist and will receive regular supervision

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good Honours Degree in Psychology or equivalent (at least Class 2 division 1)
Desirable criteria
- An interest in pursuing a career in Clinical Psychology
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- A good knowledge of developmental psychology and abnormal psychology
- Experience in working with children and with people with mental health problems
- Experience in using computer software packages – SPSS, Microsoft Word
- Experience of descriptive statistical analysis
- Ability to handle search through complex data sources including case notes
Desirable criteria
- Experience of audit
- Experience of database software computer packages
- Experience in working with parents in the preschool period
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively
- Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to establish effective relationships with children and adults
- Ability to engage parents in group settings
- Good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize work according to fixed time-scales
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and across the CAMHS directorate
- Ability to liaise effectively with a range of professionals from partner organisations such as education and social care
