Job overview
This is a great opportunity to join a passionate and supportive group of psychological professionals working with older people across Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH). You will be an active member of the community psychological professions leadership team and professionally lead the psychological professions in the Trust's mental health and dementia community services for older people. The Trust's older adult services are innovative and well respected and you will be able to collaborate on local, regional and national projects and relationships.
The role will bring the opportunity to support the ongoing development of community services as they are strengthened in line with the Community Transformation Framework and the NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide psychological clinical and professional leadership to the older adult community services across the GMMH community care group, to include both mental health and dementia services. This covers services in Manchester, Salford, Trafford, Wigan and Bolton and these services include memory assessment services, specialist older adult community mental health teams, some specialist older adult psychological therapies provision as well as the meeting of older adult needs within age inclusive aspects of the community pathway e.g. neighbourhood mental health teams. Working closely with the adult community psychological professional leads and operational staff the post holder will help continue to support the governance and development of a high-quality psychological service in the community and to ensure that current resources are used most effectively.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Current practice registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist
- • Completion of training and accredited (where accreditation is available) in one of the following modalities; CBT-psychosis and bipolar, Behavioural Family Interventions, Structured Clinical Management, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, EMDR. If not currently trained and accredited, candidates will be willing to complete training and work towards accreditation (where available) in one of these approaches. OR • Completion of the post-graduate diploma in clinical neuropsychology
- • Completion of post-graduate training in the clinical supervision of others
Desirable criteria
- • Leadership/ Management qualification with proven ability to lead and build effective teams.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Demonstrable theoretical and practical knowledge of psychological and/or neuropsychological approaches to working within an older adult mental health and dementia community service.
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Experience of working clinically and evidence of clinical leadership in both older adult mental health services and services for people living with dementia.
- • Experience of improving service delivery
- • Experience of providing clinical supervision and professional leadership to a range of junior and qualified psychological professions.
