Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a special interest in head and neck oncology and reconstruction. This new post is to join a team of four other head and neck oncology and reconstruction surgeons based at both Wythenshawe Hospital and Oxford Road Campus (Manchester Royal Infirmary) site. This is to be the hub of head and neck cancer services for the population of Greater Manchester of 3.5 million and will involve close working with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons on the North and South Manchester sites. The successful applicant will join a rota that is currently 1 in 10 with additional microvascular commitments. The unit covers the regional and major trauma centres for both adults and children, and, has close working relationships with multiple medical hospitals throughout Greater Manchester and the University Dental Hospital of Manchester.

This is a substantive post with an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to develop and strengthen joint working arrangements within the 3 units in Manchester University Foundation Trust providing OMFS services to all of Greater Manchester. This post offers the opportunity to work within a major teaching hospital adjacent to one of the largest university campuses in Western Europe, in collaboration with the Medical School and Dental School of Manchester. There are good prospects for research and teaching at all levels and the development of special interests at a tertiary level. The post demands an individual who has a recognised Certificate of Completion of Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has obtained the Intercollegiate FRCS in OMFS. It is desirable that the individual has also completed a fellowship.
