Learning, Development and Skills Facilitator
Band 5
Job overview
Liverpool University Hospitals Group – Help us create outstanding learning experiences that build the skills and capability of our workforce
This is an exciting opportunity to join our developing Group Learning, Development & Skills (LDS) service at a significant point in our journey.
As we bring together learning and development across the Group, we are creating a more joined-up, equitable and evidence-led approach, ensuring colleagues have the skills and capability needed to deliver excellent care now and in the future.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Learning, Development & Skills Facilitator to help turn this ambition into high-quality learning experiences.
Working within the People Effectiveness Centre of Expertise, you will design, develop and deliver learning and capability interventions aligned to national requirements, Group priorities and workforce needs.
Working across organisational and professional boundaries, you will build strong relationships and help ensure learning is engaging, inclusive, accessible and makes a measurable difference.
Main duties of the job
This is much more than a classroom training role.
You will use learning needs information, workforce intelligence, feedback and evaluation to translate priorities into effective learning and capability solutions.
Your work could include designing and facilitating Group-wide development programmes, supporting national learning requirements, developing digital and on-demand resources, improving mandatory learning performance, supporting learning pathways and evaluating impact.
You will be a confident facilitator, able to engage different audiences and adapt your approach to their needs.
You will help us move beyond a predominantly course-led approach towards a broader workforce capability model, making effective use of digital, virtual and facilitated learning, workplace development and coaching.
As a senior practitioner, you will share expertise, support colleagues, contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement, and role model high standards of learning design and delivery.
Working for our organisation
NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHL Group) was formed on 1 November 2024, born from a shared aim to improve the care we provide our communities.
We are one of the largest employers in region, with over 18,900 colleagues who are dedicated to caring for our communities - from birth and beyond.
For the 630,000 people across Merseyside, we are their local NHS. We provide general and emergency hospital care, alongside highly specialised regional services that extend to more than two million people in the North West.
We operate from five hospital sites: Aintree University Hospital is the single receiving site for adult major trauma patients in Cheshire and Merseyside, and hosts a number of regional services including an award-winning stroke facility. Broadgreen Hospital is home to several elective surgical, diagnostic and treatment services, together with specialist patient rehabilitation. Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital provide specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology and respiratory medicine, both in the hospital and out in the community. Liverpool Women’s Hospital specialises in the health of women and babies, delivering over 7,200 babies in the UK’s largest single site maternity hospital each year. The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is the largest hospital in the country to provide inpatients with 100% single en-suite bedrooms and mainly focuses on complex planned care and specialist services.
