Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.
We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Registered Dental Nurse to join the Outpatients Team, supporting our Specialised Paediatric Dental, Maxillofacial, Cleft Palate and Orthodontic Teams.
The post is based at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
Fully registered with the General Dental Council with Personal Development Plan and CPD records.

(Hours are worked from Monday - Friday including evening clinics.)
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work predominantly within the Department of Paediatric Dentistry, Maxillofacial and Orthodontics.
- Role model behaviours in accordance with the Trust Behavioural Framework.
- Ensure best possible dental nursing care and practice including those with complex medical, physical and emotional needs.
- Provide close support to dentistry, maintaining high standards of patient care and infection control.
- Learn new skills in line with new practices, qualifications and modernisation.

It is the primary objective of this post to contribute to patient care within the specialty of Paediatric Dentistry as a member of the multidisciplinary team.

Essential criteria
- Must be registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Care Professional.
- Registered Dental Nurse qualification or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare.
- Evidence of maintaining/updating relevant continued professional development with Personal development plan in accordance with enhanced CPD guidance.
Desirable criteria
- Any post qualification certificate(s) in any of the following: Radiology, Sedation, Orthodontics, Oral Health.
Experieince

- Recent experience of working as part of a dental team.
