Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.
We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Educator to join the Neighbourhood, Public & Mental Health System.
The successful post holder will provide educational support across the Sunflower, EDYS and Crisis Team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality learning and development opportunities for registered and unregistered staff, including Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Allied Health Professionals.
The role will focus on developing and maintaining staff knowledge, skills and competence to ensure a workforce that is fit for purpose and practice. Responsibilities will include supporting mandatory training compliance, contributing to the development and implementation of the system’s education strategy, and promoting a positive learning culture across services.
The post holder will work collaboratively with practice education colleagues, clinical teams and external partners to enhance learning opportunities and support workforce development initiatives.
To maintain clinical credibility and support practice-based learning, the role includes one clinical shift per week within Sunflower House.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered RMN/LD Nurse Or a registered Childrens Nurse with additional training and experience within the field of Mental Health and/or Learning Disability.
- Teaching qualification or willing to work towards.
Desirable criteria
- • Post registration qualification in CAMHs or equivalent.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial post registration clinical, leadership and managerial experience.
- Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and on-going competence in all aspects of the role.
- Evidence of working with learners in practice.
Desirable criteria
- Extensive experience of caring for children in MH Inpatient setting.
- Evidence of developing and delivering training in practice
