Job overview

To assist with the off-loading of deliveries; the booking in of goods onto an electronic receipting system; and the delivery and collection of goods to and from the users.
Additionally, for the range of items held within the central stores, to undertake the stock control, order processing and distribution of goods to the users, others with whom there is a Service Level Agreement, and external customers

Main duties of the job

Internal Logistics activities:
- To provide a stock control, re-ordering and replenishment service for an agreed range of items held in central stores, and to process orders generated for these items, utilising the electronic system, in accordance with Trust procedures 
- To assist with the off-loading of goods, their storage and delivery to the agreed locations in a regular, reliable, timely, and convenient manner 
- To book in items while providing an initial check on the quality of the goods received, and the accuracy of the supporting documentation, to report any obvious damage or discrepancy, in accordance with trust procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Communication: 
- To handle internal and external customer enquiries, as a front line facility for the supplies department.
- To liaise with the buyers and the customer services team regarding deliveries and collections to and from the trust
- To liaise with staff from the Finance Department over issues relating to payment for goods received by or collected from the Trust

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 2 /equivalent in relevant area of knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Clean driving licence for use up to 7.5 tonne weight

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment

Knowledge

  • Experience of undertaking manual handling activity

  • Experience working in a hospital or care environment
